CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
"I started with Jasmyn when she was a trainer at the JCC and stayed with her when she went out on her own and started coming to the house for twice-weekly sessions. We have been working together for over 6 years. By way of background, I am now 91 and in good shape for that age – but still, 91 is 91. Each week our first session involves fascia stretch therapy (FST) – which means a lot of pulling and stretching of the joints and limbs. I believe that this is the reason that I can still stand up straight and remain reasonably flexible. The second session each week involves strength, flexibility, balance and – above all, for me at least, cognitive exercises. There is no doubt that at my age I am ‘losing it’ (fragmented memory, lost connections etc.), so I consider her ‘muscle/brain’ exercises to be vital for my long-term well-being. Jasmyn is patient, good humoured, respectful and an outstanding teacher. Her ability to match exercises to my body and mind so that I stand up straight and function at a reasonable level of physical and mental ability is outstanding!! I highly recommend her!" ~ Earl B.
Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST) is a unique system of table-based assisted stretching techniques that focuses on the muscles and connective tissue that surround and encompass the joints. The pain-free stretching techniques uses constant circulatory and gentle oscillating movements of traction to release and mobilize the fascia, decompress the joint capsules and other connective tissues that may be limiting your flexibility, strength and performance.
Benefits of FST
Increases flexibility, mobility and range of motion
Increases strength and power
Decreases or eliminates pain caused by tension and stress
Improves joint health
Improves balance and coordination
Improves posture and appearance
Improves functional ability
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a network of layered connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones and joints. The joint capsule is also a connective tissue that surrounds joints; it is involved in optimizing the mechanical function of the joint as well as providing it nutrients and it is also part of the fascial network.
When the fascia and joint capsules are restricted it can cause:
Decreased joint space which can lead to degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis and arthritis
Increased muscle tone which can lead to trigger points, strains, tendonitis and tears
Increased nervous tissue tone which can lead to headaches, trigger points and muscle tightness
Increased scar tissue formation
Decreased blood flow and energy levels
How will FST help me?
Whether you are training hard in the gym or find yourself sitting for long periods in the office or at home, FST can help lengthen and loosen up tension in your body in a safe and pain-free way. FST is a great compliment to regular massage, or as a stand-alone treatment to optimize your flexibility, increase your range of motion, recover from training or for injury prevention.
